YOU WILL NEED:

To create an effective display using the thrillers, fillers and spillers technique, it’s essential that you pick 3 different types of late flowering plants, each with different heights and textures. To learn more about the thrillers, fillers and spillers planting technique, check out our blog that goes into more detail

To plant up your autumn container, you will need:

  • 1 large container and 2 smaller containers

  • Peat free multipurpose compost

  • Trowel

  • Gardening gloves

  • Your choice of thriller, filler and spiller plants

In our autumn container, we’ve picked Chrysanthemum as the thriller plant due to its bright long-lasting flowers. For the filler plant we choose Calluna, which is our September plant of the month. Calluna offers a variety of colour that also lasts long into the season. Finally, for the spiller, we used 4 Chili Pepper Santos Orange plants to make a spicy statement!
