Known as elephant ears due to their large, leathery leaves which are dark green in summer often turn deep red in autumn, Bergonias are great for beds and borders. They are robust plants and generally keep their leaves through the winter.

Flowers with bright bracts and stalks are held in clumps above the foliage and bloom in springtime.
