    The iconic Tulip is a firm favourite when it comes to spring flowerers. The Tulip Prinses Irene sports solitary, bowl shaped flowers in apricot-orange, with flame-like burgundy patterns licking around the base.

    It flowers in the spring, above green, lance-shaped foliage. Plant tulips in deep, fertile soil, in containers on the patio or in borders and beds. They look stunning when used for edging, too. Why not mix them amongst other varieties for a high-contrast, colourful display?
