In summer, elegant spires packed with small, purple bloom appear, often lasting until the first frosts.

Hebe are suitable for growing in a range of sites and planting schemes. Black Beauty looks fantastic as part of a shrubby border, or grown alone in a pot or container on a sunny, sheltered patio.

Genus of evergreen shrubs, grown for their often dense spikes, panicles or racemes of flowers and their foliage. Grows well in coastal areas. Smaller species and cultivars are suitable for rock gardens. Requires position in full sun and well drained soil. Growth may be restricted, or leggy plants tidied, by cutting back in spring. Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
