Little Seedlings

Gardening Workshops for Children

Get down to Dobbies for a fun-filled day out at one of our free gardening workshops (for children aged 4-10). By joining our workshops, your child will become a member of our Little Seedlings Club! Here, we help children and families to start growing, and encourage them to learn about wildlife, plants and the environment in our friendly group settings.

Every first Sunday of the month (and special school holiday clubs), we host our famous gardening workshops for you and your Little Seedling. As well as giving you lots of garden ideas for children that you can then follow at home, we teach a whole range of exciting and educational content, using activities and games to help each little seedling learn more.

Each attendee will be given a welcome pack containing fun stickers and a handy folder to store the activities each month.  There’s also an attendance card and each child will receive a certificate after their third, sixth and twelfth workshops. So, why not sign up to one of our Little Seedlings workshops today?

August workshop

Little Seedlings Club: August workshop - Prehistoric Plants

This month our Little Seedlings will travel back hundreds of millions of years to learn all about Prehistoric Plants! They’ll start by learning about dinosaurs from different time periods before telling some (very!) tall tales about their favourite dinos. We’ll then learn about the plants that have stood the test of time, outliving the dinosaurs and are still found in our gardens and green spaces today. There’ll also be more games and a chance to make a fossil to take home!

Holiday workshop

Little Seedlings Summer Holiday Club: Summer Scents

For Summer 2025 we have a special Little Seedlings holiday club where we'll celebrate beautiful summer scents.

Your Little Seedlings will become scent explorers and learn all about the sweet smells of summer in our gardens, homes and parks. They’ll discover how and why flowers have scents, the happy herbs with the most fragrance and the long history of perfume making. They’ll also have the chance to mix their own petal perfume to take home.
