A real sign of summertime the gorgeous Gladioli Wine and Roses bears a multitude of pink flowers with red blotches on each spike. Growing up to 100cm in height it's excellent for cutting but also looks striking towards the back of mixed borders.
Best planted outside in March, it starts to produce flowers in July and continues to bloom throughout the summer months. Mulch over during winter and they will reappear next year.

For the best effect, plant Gladioli from March onwards at 10cm deep and 10cm apart in clusters of 5 or more.Gladioli need water during the growing period and mulching with compost helps conserve moisture. Staking can be necessary; after the buds are formed, place canes or stakes at about 5cm from the base of the stems to avoid damaging the corms. In very cold areas, lift after flowering and store frost free over winter.
CAUTION: Do not eat bulbs, corms or roots as these can be poisonous.
