As we step into autumn, we'll start to see an array of warm orange tones and rich reds. To honour this season's colours, let's create a planter together which follows the simple 'thrillers, fillers, and spillers' planting technique.
For your autumn planter, we recommend using Heuchera wild rose, pansies and violas, and ivy.
Enjoy an easy and creative way to show off your favourite seasonal plants this autumn, or year-round.
Start with a terracotta pot for a touch of warmth as we come into autumn.
Fill with multi-purpose compost.
Add the Heuchera wild rose to add height and texture towards the back of your pot, this will act as your thriller.
Now start lining the front of your pot with ivy, it will trail down the front of your pot and add interest acting as your spiller.
Finally add a mixture of pansies and violas to the centre of your display, little details that set the seasonal mood. The dark purples and vibrant yellow tones will work as a great contract against the rich purple tones of the Heuchera and cool tones from your ivy.
Water well and place on your doorstep to enjoy throughout the autumn months
